What Is the Companion App? Pro
The companion app is a web-based viewer that congregation members open on their phones. It shows the current verse, worship lyrics, and sermon notes in real time — synced live with what’s on the projector.
- No download required — it’s a web app, just scan a QR code
- Works on any phone with a browser (iPhone, Android, etc.)
- Can be installed as a PWA (Progressive Web App) for an app-like experience
Setting Up the Companion
- Click the Companion QR button in the left panel
- A modal shows a large QR code and the companion URL
- Display the QR code to the congregation:
- Click Show on Projector to display it on the main screen
- Or show it on a lobby TV before the service starts
How Congregation Members Connect
- Open the camera app on their phone
- Point at the QR code — a link appears
- Tap the link — the companion opens in the browser
- Verses and lyrics sync automatically in real time
- Optional: tap “Add to Home Screen” for PWA installation
What the Congregation Sees
- Current Bible verse with reference and translation
- Worship song lyrics (current section)
- Sermon notes (if shared)
- Clean, mobile-optimised interface
Connected Device Count
The left panel shows how many phones are connected (e.g., “12” with a phone icon). Monitor engagement during the service.
Tips
- Display the QR code 5–10 minutes before the service starts
- Mention it verbally: “Scan the QR code on screen to follow along on your phone”
- Great for members who forgot their Bible or prefer reading on their phone
- Works on the same WiFi network — no external internet needed between devices
- The companion auto-reconnects if the connection drops
