1. Agreement to Terms
These Terms of Service ("Terms") constitute a legally binding agreement between you ("you", "your", "the Customer") and Handby LTD, a company registered in England and Wales ("we", "us", "Handby LTD"), governing your use of the VerseAir desktop application, companion web app, remote control app, and the website at getverseair.com (collectively, the "Service").
By downloading, installing, accessing, or using any part of the Service, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you are accepting these Terms on behalf of a church, ministry, or organisation, you represent that you have the authority to bind that organisation to these Terms.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not download, install, or use VerseAir.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) to purchase a subscription or enter into these Terms on behalf of an organisation. Individuals under 18 may use VerseAir under the supervision of an adult who accepts these Terms.
Congregation members who access the companion web app are not required to accept these Terms, as the companion operates over the local network and does not collect personal data (see our Privacy Policy for details).
3. Licence Grant
Subject to your compliance with these Terms, Handby LTD grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to download, install, and use VerseAir on your devices in accordance with your subscription tier.
- This licence is for your organisation's internal, non-commercial use in connection with religious services, Bible study, worship, and related activities.
- You may install VerseAir on the number of devices permitted by your subscription plan.
- This licence does not permit redistribution, sublicensing, resale, or rental of the software.
- The licence is personal to your organisation and may not be transferred to another entity without our written consent.
4. Subscription Plans and Free Tier
4.1 Available plans

4.2 Free tier
The Free tier is a fully functional product, not a limited trial. You may use the Free tier indefinitely without payment. Features are limited as described on our Pricing page. We reserve the right to modify Free tier features with 30 days' notice.
4.3 Pro trial
All new installations include a 14-day free trial of Pro features with no sign-up, credit card, or account creation required. After the trial period, your installation reverts to the Free tier unless you subscribe to a paid plan. Trial features may not be extended or restarted.
4.4 Pricing changes
Prices are subject to change. We will provide at least 30 days' written notice before any price changes take effect. Existing subscribers will be notified by email. Price changes will not apply until your next billing cycle after the notice period.
5. Payment and Billing
- Payment processor: All payments are processed by Stripe, Inc. You agree to Stripe's terms of service when making a purchase. We do not store your payment card details.
- Auto-renewal: Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each billing period (monthly or annually) unless you cancel before the renewal date.
- Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Stripe customer portal or by contacting us. Upon cancellation, you retain access to paid features through the end of your current billing period. After that, your installation reverts to the Free tier. Your data, settings, and cached content are preserved.
- Refunds: You may request a full refund within 14 days of your initial purchase. After 14 days, refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. We do not provide refunds for partial billing periods. To request a refund, contact letsupport@getverseair.com.
- Failed payments: If a payment fails, we will attempt to notify you by email and may retry the charge. If the issue is not resolved within 7 days, access to paid features may be suspended until payment is successful.
- Taxes: Prices are exclusive of applicable taxes. You are responsible for any VAT, sales tax, or other taxes applicable in your jurisdiction.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree to use VerseAir responsibly and in accordance with these guidelines. You must not:
- Use VerseAir for any purpose other than Bible verse projection, worship, and related church activities
- Share, distribute, or transfer your licence key to unaffiliated organisations — each key is issued to a single organisation
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble, or attempt to derive the source code of VerseAir
- Modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works based on VerseAir
- Use the speech recognition feature for purposes other than Bible verse detection (e.g., general transcription, dictation, or surveillance)
- Attempt to circumvent, disable, or interfere with feature gating, usage limits, licence validation, or any other access controls
- Use VerseAir in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations
- Transmit any malicious code, viruses, or harmful data through the Service
- Use automated scripts or bots to interact with the Service
- Resell, sublicence, or commercially exploit any part of the Service
7. Speech Recognition and Usage Limits
VerseAir includes speech-to-verse detection powered by third-party speech recognition services. By enabling the microphone, you consent to audio being streamed to these services for real-time processing.
7.1 Usage limits

7.2 Fair use and abuse mitigations
"Unlimited" speech on Pro and Enterprise plans is subject to the following fair-use safeguards, designed to prevent accidental misuse while being invisible to normal church usage:
- Idle detection (10 minutes): If no Bible verse is detected for 10 consecutive minutes, the microphone auto-pauses. One click to resume.
- Session cap (4 hours): After 4 hours of continuous listening, the microphone pauses. All screens remain live. One click to resume. No daily limit.
- Weekly soft cap (40 hours): A 40-hour weekly ceiling applies — approximately 20 times typical church usage. A warning appears at 35 hours. At 40 hours, speech pauses until the weekly reset.
These limits exist to prevent account sharing and unintended costs, not to restrict genuine worship use. If your legitimate use case is affected by these limits, contact us and we will work with you.
7.3 Accuracy disclaimer
Speech recognition accuracy depends on audio quality, accent, speaking speed, ambient noise, and internet connectivity. We do not guarantee 100% accuracy. Verse detection is provided as an assistive tool and should not be relied upon as the sole method of verse display for critical purposes.
8. Companion and Remote Control Apps
The companion web app and remote control app are included with Pro and Enterprise plans and operate over your local network.
- Local network only: These apps communicate directly with the VerseAir desktop application over your Wi-Fi network. No data is routed through our servers.
- No accounts required: Congregation members access the companion via QR code. No personal data is collected from companion users.
- Your responsibility: You are responsible for securing your local network. The remote control app is PIN-protected, but network security is your responsibility.
- Connection limits: Pro plans support up to 50 concurrent companion connections. Enterprise supports up to 500.
9. Live Streaming (Enterprise)
Enterprise plans include RTMP live streaming to platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Twitch.
- Platform compliance: You are responsible for complying with the terms of service of any streaming platform you use. Handby LTD is not liable for content policy violations on third-party platforms.
- Content responsibility: You are solely responsible for all content broadcast through VerseAir's streaming features, including Bible text, lyrics, camera feeds, and overlays.
- Copyright: You must ensure that any content you stream (including worship songs, images, and videos) is used in compliance with applicable copyright and licensing requirements.
- No guaranteed uptime: Streaming reliability depends on your internet connection, hardware, and the receiving platform. We do not guarantee uninterrupted streaming.
10. AI-Powered Features
Pro and Enterprise plans include AI-powered features such as sermon summaries, outlines, cross-references, and contextual verse search. These features are powered by third-party AI services.
- Assistive only: AI-generated content is provided as a starting point and should be reviewed before use. We do not guarantee the theological accuracy, completeness, or appropriateness of AI-generated content.
- Usage quotas: AI features are subject to monthly usage quotas (Pro: 200 requests/month, Enterprise: 1,000 requests/month). Unused quota does not carry over.
- No training: Text you submit to AI features is not used to train AI models.
- Your responsibility: You are responsible for reviewing and approving any AI-generated content before presenting it to your congregation.
11. Intellectual Property
VerseAir, including its source code, design, user interface, graphics, icons, logo, documentation, and all related materials, is the exclusive property of Handby LTD and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws of England and Wales and international treaties.
Bible texts: Bible translations included in or accessed through VerseAir are used under their respective licences and remain the property of their respective copyright holders. Public domain translations (KJV, WEB, ASV, YLT, BBE) are used freely. Licensed translations are provided in accordance with the terms set by their publishers.
Worship songs: Bundled hymns and songs are either in the public domain or used with permission. Custom songs you create are your property. You are responsible for ensuring that any songs you add comply with applicable copyright laws.
Nothing in these Terms grants you any rights to use Handby LTD's trademarks, service marks, or branding without prior written permission.
12. Data and Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
Key points:
- VerseAir runs locally on your computer — sermon content, verse history, and service data never leave your device
- The companion app operates over your local network — congregation data stays in your building
- Speech audio is processed in real time and not stored
- We collect minimal data: email, licence key, anonymised analytics
- We never sell your data
13. Updates and Modifications
VerseAir may update automatically to provide new features, bug fixes, and security patches. By using VerseAir, you consent to these automatic updates.

We recommend keeping VerseAir updated to the latest version for the best experience and security. We may discontinue support for older versions with reasonable notice.
14. Service Availability
We strive to maintain high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access to VerseAir or its online services.
- Core functionality: Bible verse display, manual search, and offline-cached content work without an internet connection.
- Online features: Speech recognition, AI tools, licence validation, and Bible translation APIs require an internet connection and may experience downtime due to maintenance, third-party outages, or circumstances beyond our control.
- No SLA: We do not offer a formal Service Level Agreement. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to maintain availability and will communicate planned maintenance in advance where possible.
15. Disclaimer of Warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, VerseAir is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory. Handby LTD disclaims all warranties, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Without limiting the foregoing, Handby LTD does not warrant that:
- VerseAir will meet your specific requirements or expectations
- Speech recognition accuracy will be 100% or error-free
- AI-generated content will be theologically accurate or complete
- The software will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or free from bugs
- Any errors in the software will be corrected within a specific timeframe
- Live streaming will be uninterrupted or available on all platforms
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited by English law.
16. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law:
- Handby LTD shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses, arising out of or relating to your use of or inability to use VerseAir.
- Handby LTD's total aggregate liability for all claims arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of VerseAir shall not exceed the total amount you have paid to Handby LTD for VerseAir in the twelve (12) months immediately preceding the event giving rise to the claim.
- For Free tier users who have made no payments, our maximum liability is limited to £50.
17. Indemnification
You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Handby LTD, its directors, officers, and employees from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or relating to:
- Your use of VerseAir in violation of these Terms
- Content you broadcast through VerseAir's streaming features
- Your violation of any applicable law or third-party rights (including copyright)
- Any unauthorised use of your licence key
18. Termination
By us: We may suspend or terminate your access to VerseAir at any time, with or without notice, if you violate these Terms or engage in conduct that we reasonably believe is harmful to other users, Handby LTD, or third parties. For minor violations, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you and provide an opportunity to remedy the issue before termination.
By you: You may stop using VerseAir at any time by uninstalling the application. If you have a paid subscription, cancel it before uninstalling to avoid future charges.
Effect of termination: Upon termination, your licence to use VerseAir is immediately revoked. Your locally stored data (cached verses, preferences, custom songs) remains on your device. Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination will continue to apply, including: Intellectual Property, Disclaimer of Warranties, Limitation of Liability, Indemnification, and Governing Law.
19. Governing Law and Disputes
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales, without regard to conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising out of or in connection with these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
Before initiating formal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us at letsupport@getverseair.com to attempt to resolve the dispute informally. We will make good-faith efforts to resolve any concerns within 30 days.
20. Force Majeure
Handby LTD shall not be liable for any failure or delay in performing our obligations under these Terms where such failure or delay results from circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to: natural disasters, war, terrorism, pandemic, government actions, power failures, internet outages, third-party service failures, or labour disputes.
21. Changes to These Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. When we make material changes:
- We will provide at least 30 days' notice before the new terms take effect
- Notice may be provided by email, in-app notification, or by posting updated terms on our Website
- We will clearly indicate what has changed
Your continued use of VerseAir after the effective date of any changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not agree to the modified Terms, you must stop using VerseAir and cancel your subscription before the changes take effect.
22. Severability
If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.
23. Entire Agreement
These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Handby LTD regarding your use of VerseAir. These Terms supersede all prior agreements, communications, and understandings, whether written or oral, relating to the subject matter of these Terms.
No failure or delay by Handby LTD in exercising any right under these Terms shall constitute a waiver of that right.
